OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition Platinum
OMEGA is introducing a new OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition, this time in platinum-gold. The new watch is this year’s follow-up from the James Bond 007 Limited Edition Omega Seamaster 2019 edition, introduced to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1969 film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. The new edition celebrates the Swiss horology house’s partnership with the James Bond films – after all, Bond actors have worn OMEGA timepieces ever since 1995’s GoldenEye.
A range of materials
The new OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition uses a variety of materials. This includes the 42 mm platinum-gold case with a screw-in crown and unidirectional black ceramic bezel with a platinum diving scale. Meanwhile, the dial itself is black enamel and features a Bond-esque spiralling gun barrel design in 18-carat white gold.
The Seamaster Diver 300M watch spares no details on being a true Bond timepiece. Therefore, it incorporates subtle design elements such as a hidden number 50 within the Super-LumiNova of the 10 o’clock index, which is visible only in the dark. This is a reference to the 50 years passed since On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, which celebrated its golden anniversary last year. Elsewhere on the dial, a miniature 007 logo lies at 7 o’clock on the white enamel minute track. Furthermore, the Bond family coat-of-arms (referenced in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service) is incorporated into the 12 o’clock hour marker. Additionally, a second, platinum-filled Bond coat-of-arms is laser-engraved onto the open caseback.
Getting down to the basics
The OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition‘s skeletonised hands and indexes are both 18-carat white gold and use Super-LumiNova, allowing for 24/7 action. The lollipop central seconds hand is also luminescent, and incorporates a red accent. Likewise, the word Seamaster is also bright red, contrasting with the watch’s dark aesthetics. Finally, the dial is protected by a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.
The OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8807, which is visible via the caseback. The self-winding movement with a Co-Axial escapement, which is approved by METAS, boasts resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. It therefore also incorporates a free-sprung balance with a silicon balance spring. Additionally, the open caseback showcases the 18-carat Sedna gold rotor and balance bridge within, as well as the inclusion of Geneva waves in arabesque. The Seamaster Diver 300M‘s in-house calibre has a power reserve of 55 hours and a frequency of 3.5 Hz.
Last but not least, the new OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Numbered Edition in platinum-gold is presented on a less action-packed but suitably suave black leather strap, which operates via a polished-brushed platinum-gold buckle. Alternatively, a black rubber strap also comes with the timepiece. Furthermore, each of the numbered editions comes in its own Globe-Trotter “suitcase”, bound by NATO-inspired straps. The numbered edition is priced at 47,175 euros.
