How to Become a Watch Designer for the New Ressence Type 1 Slim
Independent watchmaker Ressence and Sotheby’s Watch Division are joining forces against coronavirus (Covid-19) and launch a competition to design a unique watch. Watch enthusiasts have the chance to create their own interpretation of one of Ressence’s latest models, the Type 1 Slim.

Everyone can take part between today, 28 April and 12 May 3pm (MESZ). The winning design will be selected by Belgian designer and Ressence founder Benoît Mintiens and the brand’s Swiss manufacturers, who will then bring the winning design to life as a watch. The winning designer will have its name engraved on the case of the piece, which will be offered in Sotheby’s Hong Kong “Important Watches” auction on 11 July. Proceeds from the sale will support the Covid-19 Research Programme at KU Leuven University in Belgium.

There are no restrictions on the tools that participants can use – from colouring pencil and felt pens to Photoshop, nothing is off-limits.
Everyone can submit their personal design until 12 May
All guidelines and specifications are outlined in above link. The design should be submitted by email to [email protected] before 12 May 3pm (MESZ), together with the name or inscription for the engraving and the participant’s contact details.
