Ressence
In 2010, Benoît Mintiens founded the Belgian brand Ressence, known for its radically innovative watch designs. Ressence watches dispense with traditional hands in favour of rotating discs, offering intuitive legibility and a distinctive visual identity. The Type 1 features a minimalist dial with concentric discs for hours, minutes, seconds and days. The Type 3 uses a liquid-filled dial to create the illusion of floating indications and reduce reflections, while the Type 5 was developed specifically as a dive watch, employing an oil-pressure system to optimise underwater readability. In the Type 8, the titanium caseback rotates to set the time while simultaneously winding the movement. Ressence stands for design innovation, mechanical ingenuity and a new visual experience of time.
