Urwerk
Master watchmaker Felix Baumgartner and designer Martin Frei founded Urwerk in 1997, making it one of the most innovative players in contemporary watchmaking. With bases in Geneva and Zurich, the brand combines traditional mechanics with unconventional methods of displaying time. Rather than using traditional hands, Urwerk uses wandering satellite modules that traverse the dial, providing a dynamic new way of displaying time. Models such as the UR-210 and UR-111C exemplify this experimental approach, combining craftsmanship and engineering to create technical sculptures. With the AMC – a modern homage to Breguet's Sympathique concept – Urwerk has demonstrated how historical ideas can be translated into highly complex electromechanical systems for the present day. The brand is synonymous with visionary mechanics, uncompromising creativity, and continually expanding the very definition of a timepiece.
