Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor Retro: High-tech and Art Deco
The Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor Retro combines the Art Deco aesthetic of the 1930s with an innovative micro-rotor movement. The bold shape of the case is combined with architectural dials to capture the spirit of the decade. The house presents two versions: the choice here is between a red gold or stainless steel case. Both become part of the permanent collection and are not limited.
The bold case of the Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor Retro
The case is made of either 18-carat 5N red gold or stainless steel. Both variants, however, share the same dimensions of 41 x 41 mm. The house emphasises the contours, symmetry and dynamic curves of the case, which highlight the Art Deco character. It also has a spherical winding crown for easy handling. Water resistance is guaranteed to a depth of 30 metres.
The dial
On the dial, Laurent Ferrier places Arabic numerals and a modern hour circle. The stainless steel case has an opaline silver-white dial, while the second variant bears an anthracite grey dial. Meanwhile, the spear-shaped hands indicate the hours and minutes. In addition, there is a small seconds at 6 o’clock.
The movement with microrotor
The in-house calibre FBN 229.01 powers the Square Micro-Rotor Retro. It has an automatic winding mechanism with a micro-rotor. The latter allows for a clear view of the movement and winds the barrel up to a maximum power reserve of 3 days (72 hours). In addition, the Manufacture has installed a silicon escapement with double impulse. In this case, the spring is driven twice per swing, which increases efficiency. Laurent Ferrier uses two escape wheels and an appropriately shaped lever to implement this.
Nevertheless, the calibre consists of only 186 individual parts and 35 jewels. The movement is visible through the case back of the Square Micro-Rotor Retro. The escapement, the micro-rotor and the manual winding mechanism are all exposed. The watchmakers give the base plate a pearl finish, while Geneva stripes decorate the bridges.
Price & Availability of the Laurent Ferrier Square Micro-Rotor Retro
The stainless steel version appears on a khaki alligator strap, while the gold case comes with a dark grey alligator strap. Both, however, have a pin buckle made of case material. The Square Micro-Rotor Retro is available now.
