A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante: New Split-Seconds Chronograph in a Platinum Case
With the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante, the Glashütte manufacture is presenting a new split-seconds chronograph with a platinum case. It proudly bears the traditional design features of the 1815 collection, but surprises with an atypical placement of the subdials. The 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold “Homage to F. A. Lange” was introduced earlier, but it combines a black dial with a gold case. The new version with a platinum case is a limited edition of 200 pieces and is only available in the company’s own boutiques.
Case
The case of the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante is of 950 platinum and measures 41.2 mm in diameter. With a height of 12.6 mm, it also comes with a volume that is appropriate for the complication. The watch presents itself with a satin-finished middle band, which is complemented by a polished bezel and a case back with sapphire crystal. There is also a pusher at 10 o’clock that controls the split-seconds function.
Dial
The dial of the A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante is of silver and has an off-white argenté finish. Furthermore, it features the typical Arabic numerals framed by a railway minute track. In addition, a tachymeter scale winds around the periphery on a ring. Two dark-blued hands indicate the time here. Elsewhere, there is a small seconds hand at 6 o’clock. The totaliser at the atypical 12 position, on the other hand, counts the stopped minutes up to half an hour.
This Movement Powers The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Rattrapante
The L101.2 manufacture movement drives the watch. It consists of 365 individual parts and integrates 36 stones, four of which sit in gold chatons. The wearer winds the watch by hand up to a power autonomy of 58 hours. The movement uses a shock-secured screw balance with a frequency of 3 hertz. Through the case back, the rattrapante mechanism with the two column wheels is visible. Last but not least, the bridges are made of German silver and the moving parts are decorated with a line-cut.
