The Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown is the third watch to emerge from the horology house’s collaboration with sustainable clothing brand Outerknown. The bronze-colored dial and Outerknown NATO bracelet aim to evoke the chilled lifestyle of the surfing scene in Southern California and Hawaii in the 1950s and 60s.
The new Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown celebrates the partnership with Outerknown, the sustainable apparel brand co-founded by surfer legend Kelly Slater. Following the Superocean Heritage Outerknown from 2018 and the Superocean Outerknown from 2019, the two companies are now introducing the third model to emerge from the partnership. Both share the common goal of wanting to contribute to the maintenance and protection of a healthy, safe environment. The aim is therefore to become a symbol of sustainability through the development of the partnership’s products.

The new model is available in two different versions. Both are housed in a 42 mm x 9.99 mm stainless steel case. However, the second, a limited edition of 500 pieces, features an 18-carat pink gold bezel. Notably, both models feature a concave bidirectional rotating bezel, reminiscent of the original SuperOcean from 1957, with an engraving of the Outerknown logo on the solid case back. Furthermore, the case is water-resistant to a depth of 100 m.
The timepiece has a bronze-coloured dial, giving the watch a modern-retro touch. Typical of the Superocean collection, both models feature oversized indices and indicate the time with arrow-shaped hands. Additionally, both the indices and the hands use Super-LumiNova. Meanwhile, a central luminous dot on the scratch- and shock-resistant black ceramic bezel marks the model out as a diver’s watch.
The in-house Calibre 10 powers both watches. It has automatic winding and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Like all Breitling watches, the two new additions are COSC-certified chronometers. However, this movement does not offer a date function.
The two new models are presented on a brown Outerknown NATO strap made of ECONYL yarn. Breitling’s Outerknown NATO strap collection, came to life last year in collaboration with the clothing brand. The colourful strap are made of ECONYL yarn produced from recycled nylon waste, part of which is obtained from discarded or lost fishing nets. Furthermore, the straps are fully recyclable.
Finally, the Breitling Superocean Heritage ’57 Outerknown is now available both in the boutiques and from the Breitling online store. The price for the standard model is 4,000 euros, while the limited edition is available at a price of 4,850 euros.
