SIHH 2019: Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Edition 47 mm and Special Edition
At the Geneva watch fair SIHH in January of this year the Italian brand Panerai presented a new ‘Submersible‘, which is dedicated to the French free-diving world champion Guillaume Néry. After breaking several personal records in 2015, Néry retired from professional diving sports and became an ambassador of the seas. To honor his achievements, the luxury watch brand developed the new model Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Edition (Ref. PAM00982).
The new model is water-resistant to a depth of about 300 metres or 30 bar and fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel, which displays the duration of a diving session. Its luminous markers, which stand out against the dark grey, textured backround, guarantee legibility under all lighting conditions and in complete darkness. On the screw back Néry’s signature and the depths of his final record, 126 metres, are engraved.
The watch’s case is made of titanium. The ceramic disc applied to the bezel, the hands and the rubber strap are blue. The chronograph has a fly-back function and a device for zeroing the seconds hand to enable synchronisation with a reference signal. The Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Edition is fitted with a P.9100 automatic calibre with a power reserve of three days.

A further model presented by Panerai in honor of Guillaume Néry is the Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Special Edition (Ref. PAM00983). This version, limited to 15 pieces, offers its owners an expedition into the underwater worlds of the Pacific in French-Polynesia. Together with the world champion Guillaume Néry, the participants of this event will travel to the champions chosen home island of Moorea. There they will be able to get close to whales during a dive with Néry.
The Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Edition as well is water-resistant to a depth of about 300 metres (30 bar). The model is also fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel, with an applied black ceramic disc, for reliably calculating the duration of a diving session. The dial is legible under all lighting conditions due to the luminous white markers on the black and blue background.

The strap is also made of rubber. The screw back is, besides the signature of Néry and his record depth, engraved with the destination of the expedition, the island Moorea.
The 47 mm titanium case is coated with a layer of knock and scratch resistant DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon). Parts of the hour markers and the hands are coloured turquoise blue, an association with the Polynesian sea. The Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Néry Special Edition is also equipped with the flyback function and the device for zeroing the seconds hand. The model is as well operated with the P.9100 automatic calibre with a power reserve of three days.
