A. Lange & Söhne was founded in 1845 in Glashütte, Germany. Following the expropriation of the manufacture in 1948, the brand was revived in 1990 by Walter Lange and Günter Blümlein. The first collection was unveiled in 1994, led by the iconic Lange 1. Each timepiece houses a proprietary manufacture calibre, developed, produced, and meticulously finished entirely in Glashütte. Hallmark features include the patented outsize date (patented in 1992, introduced in 1994), the traditional three-quarter plate, a hand-engraved balance cock, and screwed gold chatons. Today, the brand is regarded as a legend in the high-end segment of watchmaking, standing alongside Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. Models such as the Lange 1 (with its asymmetrical dial and outsize date) and the Zeitwerk (the first mechanical watch with jumping numerals) have become modern design icons.
