Hublot Big Bang Unico Hublot Sailing Team: Limited Edition Watch For Sailor Alan Roura
Hublot has unveiled the Big Bang Unico Hublot Sailing Team, a limited edition watch produced in honour of its partnership with Swiss sailor Alan Roura. This timepiece, inspired by Roura’s IMOCA racing yacht, is made from carbon fibre and features bold black and yellow colours. With a self-winding chronograph movement and a robust design, the watch embodies Hublot’s maritime heritage and technical innovation. It is limited to 100 pieces.
Case
The case of the Big Bang Unico Hublot Sailing Team is made of polished carbon fibre, a material that is both lightweight and extremely durable. This choice reflects the watch’s connection to the world of sailing and its collaboration with Alan Roura. With a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 14.5 mm, the watch has a compact but sturdy appearance. The water resistance of 10 ATM ensures that it can withstand splashes and brief submersions, although it is not designed for deep-sea diving. The bezel is also made of carbon fibre and features the characteristic screws that give the Big Bang collection its distinctive look.
Dial
The dial of the Big Bang Unico Hublot Sailing Team is matte black, which contrasts sharply with the bright yellow accents. These yellow details are not just for decoration; they reference the colours of Alan Roura’s IMOCA yacht. The hour markers and hands are coated with luminescent material, ensuring readability even in low light conditions. The most striking feature of the dial is the chronograph functions, which are operated via the pushers on the case. The central hand measures seconds, while the sub-dial at 3 o’clock displays minutes. The running seconds at 9 also features the Swiss flag and the ‘SUI 7’ sail number. The open worked disc at 6 o’clock showcases the column wheel mechanism, reminiscent of the winches used in sailing.
Movement
Powering the Big Bang Unico Hublot Sailing Team is the HUB1280 self-winding chronograph movement. This movement is an in-house production and features a flyback function, allowing the user to reset the chronograph without stopping it first. The movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of 72 hours. The rotor is specially designed to resemble the spokes of a racing wheel, adding a sporty touch to the movement. The movement also features vertical clutch technology, which eliminates any jumping of the chronograph hand when starting the timing.
Strap
The Big Bang Unico Hublot Sailing Team comes with two straps. The first is a black fabric strap with an ultra-resistant polyurethane coating that resembles the mainsail of Roura’s IMOCA. The strap features the Hublot logo in the same font and colour as on the yacht, emphasising the connection between the brand and the world of sailing. There is also a specially designed black ceramic folding clasp that secures the strap on the wrist. The second strap is an additional black and yellow lined structured rubber strap, providing extra comfort and durability.
Price & Availability
The Big Bang Unico Hublot Sailing Team is a limited edition of 100 pieces. Each watch is individually numbered and comes with a special box. The price of the watch is 26,200 euros. The watch is available exclusively through authorised Hublot retailers.
