With the Aqua Terra line, part of the Seamaster collection first launched in 1948, Omega has been celebrating its first diving watch from 1932 since 2002. The timepiece, named Marine, was not only Omega’s first diving watch, but also the first diving watch available to the general public. Among other features, it was distinguished by its patented rectangular double case sealed with cork.
The watch with a square dial proved to be water-resistant to a depth of 73 metres in a test in Lake Geneva. Five years later, it even withstood laboratory tests at a depth of 135 metres. For over 20 years, the Aqua Terra has paid homage to Omega’s maritime heritage: versatile in design, but always with the character of a diving watch – both technically and visually.
Seamaster Aqua Terra in turquoise
This summer, a version with a matt black ceramic bezel and integrated rubber strap is being added to the line. The strap is textured and also black in colour. The turquoise stitching creates a colour-coordinated connection to the dial, which in turn features an exciting colour gradient. The result is a harmonious overall look.
The lacquered dial is reminiscent of light reflections on moving water on a sunny day, while the matt black of the bezel and bracelet seems to be inspired by the surface of a wetsuit: diving watch DNA par excellence in a sporty, elegant guise. The black PVD-coated indices and hands are perfectly integrated. These are filled with white Superluminova, which glows blue in the dark.
Distinctive features of the Aqua Terra
The new turquoise version, available with stainless steel cases in diameters of 38 and 41 millimetres, naturally remains true to the typical features of the Aqua Terra line. These include the clean design, the distinctive wave-shaped edge of the case back, the screw-down crown and the anti-reflective sapphire crystal, as well as water resistance to 15 bar.
The 38 mm version protects the calibre 8900 with a 60-hour power reserve, while the 41 mm model is powered by the calibre 8800 with a 55-hour power reserve. As METAS-certified Co-Axial Master Chronometer automatic models, both guarantee magnetic field resistance up to 15,000 gauss and the highest precision and reliability. They and their finishes can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back. The price for the new Seamaster Aqua Terra models with turquoise dial and black rubber strap is €7,600.
