A. Lange & Söhne LANGE 1 PERPETUAL CALENDAR in pink gold and white gold
The A. Lange & Söhne LANGE 1 PERPETUAL CALENDAR integrates the eponymous complication into the iconic decentralised dial design. Accordingly, the watch offers displays for the date, day of the week, month and leap year, as well as a moonphase. There is a choice between a pink-gold case with a solid silver dial and a white-gold case with a pink-gold dial. The latter is limited to 150 pieces.
LANGE 1 PERPETUAL CALENDAR with case in either pink gold or white gold
The new LANGE 1 PERPETUAL CALENDAR is housed in a case that measures 41.9 x 12.1 mm. One variation is made of 18-carat pink gold, while the limited edition is made of white gold. With both, a brushed centre section complements the polished bezel and sides of the caseback. The latter is made of sapphire crystal, revealing the mechanics inside the watch. With the white-gold case version, the caseback also bears the limitation number.
The dial
The two models differ not only in their case material, but also in their dials. While A. Lange combines the pink-gold case with a grey dial made of solid silver, the model with a white-gold case bears a pink-gold dial, thus evoking the natural colour of the precious metal.
The time display lies decentrally on a subdial with gold appliqués for hours and minutes, and also via a small seconds. In the version with a pink-gold case, the hour and minute hands are luminescent. In addition, a large date lies diagonally to the main time. A retrograde weekday display and the month ring complete the perpetual calendar.
In addition, A. Lange integrate a moonphase and day/night display into the small seconds. The solid gold sky disc rotates once every 24 hours. During the day it shows a monochrome light blue sky and in the evening a dark blue starry sky. The moon – either in pink or white gold – rotates above this disc, indicating its phases. Finally, the watch also offers a leap year indicator at 6 o’clock.
The calibre L021.3 inside the LANGE 1 PERPETUAL CALENDAR
The manufacture calibre L021.3 enables the functions of the watch and has 621 components. It is an automatic calibre with a power reserve of 50 hours. The cam-poised balance beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Remarkably, all indications of the calendar – including the month ring – jump instantly. All displays can be adjusted together or individually via correctors.
The movement’s decoration reflects the brand’s high quality standards. The 24-carat gold unidirectional winding rotor carries an additional oscillating weight made of platinum. In addition, the plates and bridges, which are decorated with Glashütte ribbing, are made of German silver. There are also thermally blued steel screws that fix five gold chatons. Finally, the movement features the free-cut engraved balance cock with swan-neck spring.
The A. Lange & Söhne LANGE 1 PERPETUAL CALENDAR appears in two versions. The watch with a pink-gold case comes on a reddish brown leather strap with an 18-carat pink-gold pin buckle. Meanwhile, the white gold variant comes with a slightly darker leather strap with a pin buckle made of the case material.
The LANGE 1 PERPETUAL CALENDAR with a pink-gold case costs 98,000 euros, while the one with a white-gold case costs 109,000 euros. Furthermore, only 100 pieces of the latter are available.
