Breguet Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077: Independent Chronograph Now With Breguet Blue
Breguet presents the Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077 in a new version with a blue dial. This watch features a completely independent chronograph mechanism, a unique design with dual balance wheels, and a patented blade spring system. Let’s take a closer look at this watch and its features.
Case
The case of the Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077 measures 44 mm in diameter and 14.1 mm in height. It is made of 18K white gold and features the characteristic fluted case band. The screw-locked pushers for the chronograph function are located at 4 and 8 o’clock, preventing accidental activation. The crown is positioned at 3 o’clock. The water resistance is rated at 3 bar (30 m). The sapphire crystal on both the front and back has an anti-reflective coating, ensuring clear visibility. The case back reveals the intricate mechanics of the watch, although the regulator is not visible due to the design.
Dial
The off-centred dial of the Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077 is made of 18K gold and features a hand-engraved Clous de Paris pattern. It is treated with a ‘Breguet Blue’ galvanic finish, adding a modern touch to the watch. The hours and minutes are indicated by rhodium-plated open-tipped Breguet hands. There are also two arched tracks: one for the 20-minute counter of the chronograph and one for the power reserve indicator. At 6 o’clock, a small hand indicates whether the chronograph is running. The clear layout and contrasting colours ensure excellent readability.
Movement
The Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077 is powered by the manual-winding calibre 580DR. This movement features two independent gear trains: one for the timekeeping and one for the chronograph. The timekeeping gear train operates at a frequency of 3 Hz and has a power reserve of 55 hours, while the chronograph operates at a high frequency of 5 Hz, allowing for precise timing to the tenth of a second. The energy for the chronograph is stored in a flexed blade spring, which lasts up to 20 minutes. This spring is recharged when the reset pusher is activated. The dual balance wheels, one made of cupronickel and the other of titanium, ensure stable timekeeping. The movement also includes Breguet’s patented ‘pare-chute’ shock protection. The finishing of the bridges and main plate is done in a matte grey, characteristic of the Tradition collection.
Strap
The Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077 comes with a dark blue alligator leather strap that matches the colour of the dial. The strap has a width of 23 mm at the lugs and features an 18K white gold triple-blade folding clasp, ensuring a secure fit and comfort.
