Audemars Piguet Code 11.59 Tourbillon Openworked in Blue Ceramic
The new Code 11.59Tourbillon Openworked is a watch requires a second, closer look to appreciate all of its various elements and features. The model showcases a modern bicolour design and combines an electric-blue finish with rose-gold details that make the carefully crafted open-worked movement shine brightly, highlighting all of the details.
Several new releases from Audemars Piguet currently sport a blue ceramic case. This includes this Code 11.59, which marks the first time this blue look features in the collection. The colour celebrated its premiere in the form of the recently released Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar. Likewise, the Royal Oak Offshore 2020 (Ref. 26405CE) also makes use of the same material.
The case of the Code 11.59 Tourbillon Openworked
The 41 mm case of the new Code 11.59Tourbillon Openworked appears in a two-tone look that helps to highlight the craftsmanship and creative intentions of its artisanal creators. Audemars Piguet combine the blue ceramic case with an 18-carat white-gold bezel, lugs and caseback. Furthermore, the manufacture engrave the caseback of the 10.70 mm high timepiece with the words ‘Limited Edition of 50 pieces’.
A dial with a view
The Code 11.59 Tourbillon Openworked‘s dial allows for a view of the detailed tourbillon movement, which sits beneath the curvaceous sapphire crystal that makes for such a recognisable feature of all Code 11.59 watches. The long, slender hands in 18-carat red gold add a subtle colour accent, yet contrast nicely with the balance wheel. In the centre of the blue ceramic case is a blue inner bezel with white minute markers and the words ‘Audemars Piguet’ at 12 o’clock.
The openworked tourbillon movement
Powering this Code 11.59 is the calibre 2948, an open-worked tourbillon movement with manual winding. It consists of 196 individual parts and lies over several levels. The open-worked bridges and the baseplate are also blue and thus match the colour of the middle section. AP achieve the colour by using an ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) process, which creates an even colour across the various components of the timepiece.
In addition, Audemars Piguet highlight the deep blue components of this model by using a rose-gold balance wheel and open-worked barrel, revealing the mainspring and light grey gear train inside the 3.65 mm-thick movement. The Audemars Piguet movement has a power reserve of 72 hours and a frequency of 3 Hz.
