Panerai continues its love for experimentation by introducing a new interpretation of their ‘Luminor Marina’ with an ultra-light Carbotech case. Furthermore, the new Luminor Marina Carbotech – 44 mm is equipped with a Sandwich dial with blue Super-LumiNova markings.
The high-performance composite material was developed by Panerai’s creative lab ‘Laboratorio di Idee’ and for the first time ever combined with a Sandwich dial. The Carbotech case only weights 96 grams, but remains remarkable tough. The composite is formed of superimposed layers of carbon fiber which are alternatively aligned, then consolidated under pressure and controlled temperature with a binding matrix, based on PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone). It makes the watch highly resistant to external shocks and corrosion.
The black dial in sandwich structure has green luminescent Arabic numerals and hour markers in blue Super-LumiNova. A small seconds is placed at 9 o’clock and a date at 3 o’clock position.
The caliber P.9010
is a well-known movement already used in many other members of the Luminor
Marina family. It is entirely designed and developed within the Panerai
Manufacture in Neuchâtel. The 6 mm thin automatic movement is fitted with the
function for rapidly setting the hour hand, a process which simultaneously
adjusts the date. A double spring barrel offers a power reserve of three days.
The new Luminor Marina Carbotech 44 mm (PAM01661) is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 m) and is worn on a Panerai Sportech strap, a water-resistant rubber-like material in black with blue sewing. A second strap in black rubber is also included together with a special screwdriver for removing the buckle. Price: 12.500 euros
