Chopard Showcases The L.U.C Flying T Twin With Flying Tourbillon
With the L.U.C Flying T Twin, the Chopard manufacture is presenting a classic wristwatch with a flying tourbillon. Housed in a flat gold case, it flaunts its deep blue dial with a guilloché pattern. Inside operates an in-house movement that offers both automatic winding via microrotor and a tourbillon stop-seconds mechanism. The watch is a limited edition of 50 pieces and available now.
Gold Case With Classic Dimensions
The L.U.C Flying T Twin comes in a 40 mm case made of ethical white gold. The case height is a flat 7.2 mm. The manufacture puts vertical satin finishing on the side, while the bezel and the back are polished. The back also features the numbering and a window that reveals the movement. The crown bears the L.U.C branding and enables a water resistance of 30 metres.
The Guilloché Dial References The Manufacture’s Past
The dial of the Chopard L.U.C Flying T Twin is made of solid gold with a galvanic coating. In the centre is a hand-guilloched honeycomb pattern. This refers to the original logo of founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard, which depicted a beehive. Surrounding this central section are the hour markers on an azuré wave-patterned hour-ring. The Chemin-de-Fer minute track and the L.U. Chopard lettering are gold-plated. Last but not least, two central dauphine hands indicate the hours and minutes. At 6 o’clock, the flying tourbillon makes its rounds and functions as a small seconds hand with the aid of a white triangle.
The Movement Inside The Chopard L.U.C Flying T Twin
The movement L.U.C 96.24-L inside the watch consists of 189 parts and 25 rubies. Particularly noteworthy is the slim construction of only 3.3 mm. The movement offers automatic winding via a microrotor and a maximum power autonomy of 65 hours. The latter is provided by two stacked barrels, to which the “Twin” in the name of the watch also refers.
The tourbillon at 6 o’clock does without the upper bridge, which makes it a “flying” tourbillon. Inside, a hairspring with a flat end curve operates at a frequency of 3.5 Hz. Last but not least, the manufacture succeeded in integrating a tourbillon stop, which allows the time to be set precisely. The certification with both the COSC Chronometer and the Poinçon de Genève hallmark also speaks for the high quality of the watch.
