The watchmaker Roger Dubuis is well-known for its unconventional, ingenious creations. Now, the new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Twofold is furthering the horology house’s reputation. The 45mm skeletonised timepiece displays a unique ‘ultra-white’ design and a double flying tourbillon. The case is made out of a mineral composite fibre and is presented on a matching white strap created with FKM luminescent rubber – a feature never seen before in the watch industry.

The novel use of a patented technique for the application of the watch’s glow ensures that each part of the movement’s upper plate keeps glowing green, lasting 60% longer than standard luminescent material commonly used. The hands, screw-like indices and Two-Fold strap also light up in the dark. Furthermore, the movement can be viewed though the watch’s caseback.

The Excalibur Twofold is powered by the horology house’s manual-winding calibre RD01SQ, with the mainspring barrel offering a 50-hour power reserve. The double-flying tourbillon offer a frequency of 3Hz each and provide high precision thanks to the differential system serving to average out the rate of the two tourbillon.
