TUDOR is introducing two brand new Black Bay Chrono models with either a black or opaline dial, plus contrasting subdials. The new fast-paced pieces are housed in a highly sporty stainless-steel case. Furthermore, they now come with a five-year guarantee, for which registration is not necessary.
The Case
The 41 mm case of the new Black Bay Chrono watches alternates between satin-brushed and polished finishing. Both versions of the timepiece feature a fixed 316L steel bezel with either a matt black or white anodised aluminium disc, with a tachymetric scale and silver markings. Meanwhile, the watches’ 316L steel screw-down pushers lie at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock. Furthermore, the Black Bay Chrono case provides water-resistance to an impressive 200 m.
TUDOR Chrono: The dials
Two domed dial options are available. This includes opaline (white) with black counters, or black with silver counters. While not strictly necessary for a chronograph, TUDOR transform the Black Bay Chrono into an everyday watch by including a date window at 6 o’clock. As well as displaying the hour using TUDOR’s “Snowflake” hand, the chrono’s seconds hand helpfully has a red tip for the sake of legibility.
The movement powering the TUDOR Black Bay Chrono
Powering the models is the COSC-certified manufacture calibre MT5813. This self-winding calibre provides a solid 70-hour power reserve, while beating at a frequency of 4 Hz. Interestingly, the column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch was designed alongside fellow watch brand Breitling.
Last but not least, an array of strap options is available, including a black leather strap, steel bracelet, or black fabric strap. These secure onto the wrist with the help of a folding clasp and safety catch, aside from the fabric version, which uses a buckle. Finally, the new Black Bay Chrono watches with a strap are all priced at 4,550 euros, while the versions with a steel bracelet cost a marginally higher 4,840 euros.
