Leica
The German heritage brand Leica, renowned for its cameras, entered the world of watchmaking only in 2018 with Leica Watches. These are produced in cooperation with Lehmann Präzision in Schramberg in Germany’s Black Forest. As with its cameras, Leica’s watches emphasise a clear, functional design code combined with German precision engineering. The first models, the L1 and L2, are characterised by understated aesthetics, a patented push-crown and, in the case of the L2, an additional GMT function. This was followed by the ZM 1/2 series, which translates Leica’s focus on functionality into watchmaking through a jumping-hand mechanism. Leica positions itself as a brand for enthusiasts of design, technology, and pared-back aesthetics.
