Breguet presents two new models in its Classique collection: the Classique 5177 and Classique 7787. These references showcase the brand’s commitment to traditional craftsmanship and timeless elegance. Encased in platinum, the watches feature dials made of black Grand Feu enamel, a noble material known for its beauty. The Classique 5177 offers a pure representation of time with a date window, while the Classique 7787 includes a moonphase and power reserve indicator. Both watches are powered by automatic movements, visible through the sapphire crystal casebacks.

Case

The cases of the Classique 5177 and Classique 7787 are made of platinum, a first for these models. The dimensions differ between the two models: the Classique 5177 has a diameter of 38 mm and a height of 8.8 mm, while the Classique 7787 measures 39 mm in diameter and 10.3 mm in height. Despite these slim profiles, the offer a robust construction. Features such as the fluted case band, knurled crown, and welded lugs are characteristic of the Classique collection and add to the overall elegance. Both watches are equipped with sapphire crystal that has double anti-reflective coating, providing clear visibility of the dials. However, the water resistance is limited to 30 metres, which is standard for dress watches but less than what sportier models offer.

Dial

The dials of the Classique 5177 and Classique 7787 are made of black Grand Feu enamel, a material that requires meticulous craftsmanship. The intense black colour is one of the most difficult to achieve in enamel, making it a rare choice for haute horlogerie pieces. On these dials, Breguet’s signature Arabic numerals and a discreet minute track in powdered silver stand out, highlighting the brand’s commitment to legibility. The rhodium-plated ‘moon’ tip Breguet hands add a touch of elegance while indicating the hours, minutes, and seconds. The Classique 5177 features a date window at 3 o’clock, blending seamlessly with the dial. In contrast, the Classique 7787 offers a moonphase at 12 o’clock with a window that displays a hammered gold moon against a starry blue sky, alongside a power reserve indicator at 5:30. Both dials also bear Breguet’s secret signature, a nod to the brand’s history. These dials not only serve functional purposes but also reflect the artistic heritage that inspires the Classique collection.

Movement

The Classique 5177 and Classique 7787 are powered by in-house automatic movements. The Calibre 777 Q, found in the Classique 5177, consists of 237 components and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It features a silicon balance spring and an inverted lever with silicon lugs, enhancing durability and precision. The unique oscillating weight, made of 18-carat rhodium-plated gold, is decorated with a ‘starry mosaic’ motif and inscribed with “BREGUET EDITION SPECIALE”. This movement provides a power reserve of 55 hours. The Classique 7787, on the other hand, houses the Calibre 591 DRL. This movement, comprising 221 components, also operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour but has a lower power reserve of 38 hours. It includes a 22-carat gold rotor with ‘barley grain’ guilloché and an additional pinion on the moonphase disc for a more accurate display of the lunar cycle. Both movements are visible through the sapphire crystal casebacks and bear the Breguet signature, a mark of quality and craftsmanship.

Strap

Both the Classique 5177 and Classique 7787 come with a black alligator leather strap that has a satin finish. The straps are equipped with a platinum pin buckle for the Classique 5177 and a triple-blade folding clasp for the Classique 7787.
