Breguet Classique Double Tourbillon „Quai de l’Horloge“: New Version in Rose Gold
The world of haute horlogerie welcomes a new variant of the Breguet Classique Double Tourbillon “Quai de l’Horloge”. The watch is an homage to the rich tradition of craftsmanship and technical innovations that have defined the brand since its inception. With the introduction of this watch, Breguet honors the famous invention of the tourbillon, patented by Abraham-Louis Breguet on June 26, 1801. The watch first appeared with a platinum case and an engraved view of the facade of Breguet’s workshop on today’s Quai de l’Horloge in Paris. The new model, reference 5345, features a case made of red gold and an engraved aerial view of the same street and the Pont Neuf on the back.
Case
The case of the Classique Double Tourbillon “Quai de l’Horloge” 5345 is made of 18-carat rose gold, measuring 46 mm in diameter and 16.8 mm in height. These generous dimensions provide ample space to showcase the watch’s complex mechanics and artistic details. The sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the intricately engraved back and the fine decorations.
Dial
The dial of the Classique Double Tourbillon “Quai de l’Horloge” 5345 is made of sapphire crystal, engraved with Roman numerals and a minute track, meticulously filled with blue lacquer. The hour ring appears to float above the mechanism, facilitated by the transparent sapphire disc. The hour hand is made of blued steel and serves as the upper bridge of one of the tourbillons, with its extension used for the second tourbillon. The entire mechanism rotates once every 12 hours, while the minute hand moves independently.
The manufacturer has also designed a completely new guilloché pattern for this timepiece, the “Flinqué rayonnant” motif, reminiscent of regular sound waves. This decoration can be found on the rose gold rotating plate and the underlying rhodium-plated gold bridge, adding an extra aesthetic dimension to the watch.
Movement
At the heart of the Classique Double Tourbillon “Quai de l’Horloge” 5345 lies the caliber 588N2, a double tourbillon movement composed of 740 individual parts. Each of the two tourbillons has its own gear train, driven by its own mainspring barrel, and completes one revolution per minute. The two tourbillons are connected by a differential, regulating the watch’s timekeeping and driving the rotation of the entire mechanism. The central plate connecting the two tourbillons rotates once every 12 hours and simultaneously acts as the hour hand. The manual winding provides a power reserve of 60 hours.
Strap
The Classique Double Tourbillon “Quai de l’Horloge” 5345 is worn on a dark blue rubber strap with a Breguet imprint. This strap not only offers high comfort but also complements the watch’s color scheme.
