Hublot Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic: A Watch That Is Literally Made From Djokovic’s Equipment
Hublot has unveiled the Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic, a limited edition timepiece that embodies the watchmaker’s commitment to sustainable innovation. Made from the tennis star’s HEAD rackets and Lacoste polo shirts, the watch is a tangible representation of Djokovic’s achievements and Hublot’s craftsmanship.
Case: Recycled Materials and Gorilla Glass
The case and bezel of the Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic are made from a composite material that combines epoxy resin with quartz powder and glass fibre, recycled from 25 of Djokovic’s HEAD rackets and 15 dark blue and 17 light blue Lacoste polo shirts. This not only gives the watch a unique camo aesthetic but also highlights Hublot’s commitment to sustainability. The dimensions are typical of the Big Bang collection, with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 14.5 mm. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres. To reduce weight, Hublot has opted for tempered Gorilla glass instead of traditional sapphire crystal, making the watch feel light on the wrist. Additionally, some components like the pushers and crown are made of anodised aluminium, further reducing weight.
Dial: Functional and Minimalistic
The dial of the Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic is kept in a matte sky blue colour and features white luminescent indices. At 3 o’clock, the date window with a white background and black lettering adds a practical feature. The skeleton subdials of the chronograph movement reveal the inner workings of the watch and are framed by a polished blue aluminium ring. The seconds hand is adorned with the Novak Djokovic logo, adding a personal touch.
Movement: Unico Manufacture with Aluminium Components
At the heart of the Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic lies the HUB1280 (Unico 2) manufacture movement. This self-winding chronograph has been specially modified for this watch, with many components made of anodised aluminium in light blue or grey, reducing the weight by 27%. The movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and has a power reserve of 72 hours. A Notable feature is the front facing column wheel, which ensures precise and smooth operation of the chronograph functions. The movement also offers flyback functionality. The oscillating weight is customised, featuring the Novak Djokovic logo.
Straps: Four Options for Different Styles
The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic comes with four different straps. The first is a ‘Lacoste’ tennis wristband that attaches to the watch head with Hublot’s One Click system. The second is a blue elastic strap, making the watch lightweight and easy to wear. The third features a light blue Velcro strap with a polished blue aluminium sports buckle, while the last is a white rubber strap with a titanium deployant buckle. Each strap offers a different look and feel, catering to various occasions.
Price and Availability: Limited to 100 Pieces
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic is limited to 100 pieces and comes in an exclusive wooden watch box. The price is 54,900 euros. The watch is available now online at Hublot.com and in Hublot boutiques worldwide.
