Hublot Big Bang Unico Orange Ceramic And Dark Green Ceramic
At this year’s Watches & Wonders fair, Hublot is adding two particularly attractive models to its Big Bang Unico collection in orange or dark green ceramic. Both pieces showcase a skeletonised dial, come with sumptuous matching rubber straps, and are a limited edition of 250 pieces.
The case
So, down to the details. The new Big Bang Unico models come in a sizeable 42 mm x 14.50 mm ceramic case with a polished bezel. Available in either orange or dark green, Hublot break up the colour through the addition of H-shaped black titanium screws, alongside black pushers and a black crown. Sapphire crystal on the front and caseback allows for an in-depth view of the movement. Meanwhile, anti-glare treatment ensures the utmost legibility even in bright conditions. The case offers water-resistance to 100 m.
The dial
Colour likewise breaks up the open-worked dial. Hublot opts for a mix of baton and Arabic hour markers in the colour corresponding to the case. Skeletonised hands for the hour and minute as well as chronograph functions further increases visual access to the exposed movement beneath the dial. The central seconds hand features the manufacture’s emblematic ‘H’ logo, and is likewise in orange or green. Particularly noteworthy is the date window at 3 o’clock: the entire blackened date plate is on show, as it slowly works its way around the dial day by day.
The movement of the Big Bang Unico
This brings us to the impressive in-house calibre UNICO 2. The automatic movement integrates a flyback chronograph with column wheel as well as hours, minutes, and date. Via the sapphire crystal caseback, the owner of either Big Bang Unico edition may admire the blackened tungsten oscillating weight with its micro-blasted and satin-finished surfaces. Notably, the movement also uses a Swiss silicon lever escapement. The UNICO 2 has a classic frequency of 4 Hz and an approximate 72-hour power reserve, making it a good weekend-proof option.
Strap, price and availability
Last but not least, the two new Big Bang Unico watches come with matching structured rubber straps in corresponding orange or dark green tones. These secure to the wearer’s wrist with the help of a black ceramic and black-plated titanium deployment buckle clasp. Hublot’s ‘One-Click’ case system makes it easy for the wearer to switch up the strap in favour of another option. Both chronograph models are limited editions of 250 pieces each. Price: 30,800 euros.
