Löbner Sledge Automatic: New Three-hand Watch With Innovative Bezel
Löbner presents its first three-hand watch, the Sledge Automatic, featuring an innovative timekeeping mechanism. The watch is equipped with a rotatable bezel that enables minute-precise adjustments to the minute scale on the dial. This function is akin to the inner rotating bezels commonly found in diver’s watches but eliminates the need for a secondary crown. The Sledge Automatic is available in eight variations, with dials offered in Galvano Black, Petrol Blue, Zeitgeist Green, and Neusilber Grey.
The History of Löbner Timepieces
The German watch manufacturer Löbner, renowned for its expertise in short-time measurement, returned to the market in 2023. Originally founded in Berlin in 1862, the company was a leading producer of precision timekeeping instruments until the Second World War. Löbner’s technical innovations included chronoscopes capable of measuring time intervals to one-thousandth of a second. The brand’s electromechanical timing systems were utilised at major sporting events such as the Olympic Games and recorded numerous motorsport world records.
Now based in Munich, Löbner continues its legacy of precision timekeeping with two new collections: the Löbner Steelracer and the Löbner Sledge. These models blend modern design with Swiss movement technology and German craftsmanship. While the watches are assembled and fine-tuned in Germany, the calibres are manufactured in Switzerland.
The Case of the Löbner Sledge Automatic
The case of the Löbner Sledge Automatic is crafted from satin-finished 316L stainless steel, measuring 40.5 mm in diameter and just 9.8 mm in height. Despite its slim profile, the case is water-resistant to 10 bar. The rotatable bezel is integrated with an inner minute scale, which can be adjusted clockwise without the need to manipulate the crown. This innovative feature is patented as the Löbner Inner Circle Lock. The winding crown of the sports watch is located under a patented crown guard that Löbner calls the ‘sledge’.
The Dial
The Löbner Sledge Automatic is offered with dials in four colour options: Galvano Black, Petrol Blue, Zeitgeist Green, and Neusilber Grey, with Galvano Black also featured in the Steelracer collection. The dial includes an internal 60-minute scale, adjustable via the rotatable bezel. The hour and minute hands are coated with luminous material, ensuring excellent legibility in low-light conditions.
The Movement
Powering the Löbner Sledge Automatic is the Löbner Calibre 6717, an automatic movement based on a Swiss calibre by La Joux-Perret. It boasts an impressive power reserve of 68 hours. The watches are assembled and regulated by hand in Germany, adhering to the highest quality standards. Both the design and the robust case are 100% Made in Germany.
Strap Options
The Löbner Sledge Automatic is available with either a rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet. The links of the stainless steel bracelet are individually screwed, ensuring exceptional durability and stability. The rubber straps are colour-matched to the dials, offering both comfort and style.
Price & availability
The Löbner Sledge Automatic will be available from spring 2025 in eight different versions. Models with a stainless steel bracelet are priced at €9,600, while those with a rubber strap are priced at €8,600. Löbner timepieces are available at select Bucherer boutiques worldwide.
