Stowa Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B: Mondern Interpretation of The Classic Pilot’s Watch
The Flieger Verus is Stowa’s modern interpretation of the classic pilot’s watch. Now, with the Stowa Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B, a variant with an alternative dial featuring a central hour circle is coming to the market. The design harks back to the year 1942 when the Baumuster B-style dials were put into production.
Case
The Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B comes in a 40-mm stainless steel case that exudes a robust aesthetic with its matte surface. With a height of 10.2 mm and a lug-to-lug length of 48.6 mm, the watch offers balanced proportions. The case achieves water resistance of up to 5 bar with the screw-down crown. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal protects the dial and ensures a clear view of the displays. The see-through case back allows a view of the mechanics inside.
Dial
The dial of the Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B is clearly and structurally designed, featuring the typical characteristics of the Baumuster B design. The division of the dial into a large outer minute track and a smaller inner hour circle offers excellent readability, which is further enhanced by the use of Superluminova BGW9 luminous material. This glows in a bright blue hue in the dark and guarantees long-lasting luminosity. A distinctive feature is the luminous triangle (arrow) at 12 o’clock, which ensures quick orientation at night.
Movement
Three different movements from the Swiss company Sellita power the Stowa Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B. The options include the automatic movement SW200 in either the base or top version, as well as the hand-wound movement SW210 in the top version. The automatic movement offers a power reserve of 38 hours, while the hand-wound version lasts up to 42 hours. The base version differs from the superior top variant through better finishing and better chronometric performance. An optional date window is also available for all versions.
Strap
Two strap options are available for the Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B: A classic black pilot’s strap without rivets and a Milanese strap that is bead-blasted and matte finished.
Price & Availability of the Stowa Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B
The Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B is offered at a price of 950 euros for the basic automatic version, while the top versions are priced slightly higher: 1,080 euros for the automatic top version and 1,100 euros for the hand-wound top version. The official launch date is June 6, 2024, and the watch will be available directly through Stowa’s sales channels and online shop.
