The Breguet Classique Calendrier 7337: Traditional Principles, Contemporary Flair
As early as the end of the 18th century, Breguet had laid down clear design codes, such as the famous hand-guilloching of dials in gold or silver. Among other things, the watchmaker created the eponymously named Breguet hands with their openworked “pomme” tip. Another ever-recognisable feature has to be the eccentrically arranged dial, taking inspiration from the Baroque era. These elements continue to make the watches timeless and distinctive today. Now, a new edition of the Classique Calendrier 7337, available in two versions, is combining these principles with a modern exterior, while remaining true to the aesthetic features of its predecessors.
The case with a traditional design
The case is elegant and classic Breguet in terms of both shape and material. While updated, the new case offers no major surprises. With a diameter of 39 mm and a height of 9.95 mm, it provides a classic, low-profile look.
The Classique Calendrier 7337 is available with an 18-carat white or rose gold case. Furthermore, the case features the maison‘s characteristic fluted case ring. These are finely structured vertical grooves in the central part of the case with two superimposed lines. Meanwhile, sapphire crystal on the caseback allows for an optimal view of the action at the heart of the watch.
The dial of the new Classique Calendrier 7337
Breguet decorate the dial with a fine Clous de Paris guilloché pattern, handcrafted by the craftsmen of the Breguet manufacture. In addition, the vivid moonphase display at 12 o’clock makes a clear stylistic statement. The hand-hammered golden moon is surrounded by clouds that have been finely sandblasted to create a matte texture. Breguet create the sky using blue lacquer and stars that give off a slight shimmer depending on the angle of the timepiece.
For over two centuries, Breguet has used the classic openworked “pomme” hands. This creation of the house also makes an appearance on the new Classique Calendrier 7337. The “pomme” hands indicate the hours, minutes and seconds. The large window for the date is at 2 o’clock and that for the day of the week at 10 o’clock.
The automatic movement
The inner workings of the watch remain much the same. The Classique Calendrier 7337 is still powered by the in-house Calibre 502.3 QSE1. The automatic movement consists of 236 individual parts and beats at a frequency of 3 Hz. Integrating 35 jewels, it has a power reserve of 45 hours.
Price and availability
The white-gold version of the Classique Calendrier 7337 comes with a midnight blue alligator leather strap, while the rose-gold model comes with a brown alligator leather strap. The price for this classic timepiece is 45,400 euros (incl. VAT).
