Trilobe Une Folle Journée: Floating Time in Three New Variations
French watchmaker Trilobe is set to unveil three new editions of its Une Folle Journée (“A Crazy Day”) collection, showcasing the brand’s innovative approach to horology. These timepieces feature floating rings to indicate time, offering a fresh perspective on timekeeping. The new models distinguish themselves with grey rhodium-plated bridges, a departure from the previous black or copper-coloured background. Additionally, a subtle green hue has been introduced, enhancing the contemporary design and technical mastery that define Trilobe’s vision of time.
Case
The case of the Trilobe Une Folle Journée Rhodium-Plated Editions is made of grade 5 titanium, measuring 40.5 mm in diameter and an impressive 17.8 mm in height. The design features a 1.2 mm thick sapphire crystal dome fused by flame, manufactured in Japan and polished in Switzerland, treated with multi-layer anti-reflective coating (ARDUR), providing absolute transparency and resistance. This ensures optimal visibility from all angles. The water resistance is guaranteed up to 5 bar, equivalent to 50 meters, providing some protection against water exposure. The push-release crown adds to the innovative design, while the mirror-polished and satin-brushed surfaces give the watch an elegant appearance.
Dial
The front of the Trilobe Une Folle Journée showcases a unique design with three rotating rings that indicate hours, minutes, and seconds and are elevated at 10.2mm, supported by an aerial architecture. Each ring is a technical challenge, made from titanium-aluminum-vanadium, requiring extreme precision. Despite being light, they are difficult to shape and delicate to polish, but once completed, they reveal an exceptional finish. The rings are finally coated with Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC), giving them a sleek appearance. Nine columns ensure the stability of the three perpetually rotating rings, and a minimalist pointer allows for immediate time reading. The new grey rhodium-plated movement bridges add an extra dimension to the dial, enhancing the architectural aesthetics. The new editions also introduce a subtle green hue that captures light and adds a fresh perspective to the time display.
Movement
At the heart of the Trilobe Une Folle Journée lies the X-Centric calibre, an automatic movement built in-house and developed in partnership with Le Cercle des Horlogers, a manufacture based in Switzerland. It took 5 years of R&D and 55 expert craftsmen to launch this movement. Since 2020, it has been at the heart of all the models in the collection. The movement features 196 custom-made components and a micro-rotor. The balance frequency is set at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), with a power reserve of 48 hours.
Strap
The Trilobe Une Folle Journée come with a colour-matched leather strap. The strap is equipped with a pin buckle, ensuring secure closure.
Price & Availability
The new Trilobe Une Folle Journée watches will be available from March 19, 2023. The price for each edition is 20,400 euros, excluding taxes.
