W&W 2020: Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph
At this year’s Watches & Wonders 2020, Vacheron Constantin is introducing several novelties. The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph is an addition to the Traditionnelle collection. The watch combines a monopusher chronograph with a tourbillon. The new 42.5 mm model has a 18-carat 5N case and it presents itself on a dark brown leather alligator strap.

The silvered opaline dial with rose-gold dauphine hour and minute hands adheres to the traditional appearance of the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph. Furthermore, a tachometer scale runs around the edge of the model, so that the chronograph hands can be read accurately. Additionally, a power reserve indicator lies at 6 o’clock. Meanwhile, the tourbillon is unusually placed at 12 o’clock. Small seconds are also displayed on the tourbillon’s carriage. The drive of the tourbillon cage is designed so that the mechanism is mostly open-worked and visible.

The Traditionnelle Tourbillon Chronograph‘s chronograph is operated by a single pusher that performs the start, stop, and reset functions. Furthermore, this pusher is integrated into the crown and can only be triggered when sufficient pressure is applied. The combination of the lateral clutch mechanism and column wheel ensures the smooth activation of the function. It also minimises the potential stuttering of the chronograph hand when it is activated. Finally, the time measured can be read off the 45-minute counter at 3 o’clock.

Finally, the sapphire crystal case back allows a clear view of the movement.
