Greubel Forsey has reinvented its perpetual calendar QP in the new QP à Équation. Housed in a 43.5mm 5N red-gold case with a ‘chocolate brown’ dial, the watch incorporates a complete perpetual calendar, a tourbillon, and Equation of Time, which are operated using the bidirectional crown. The timepiece is presented on a hand-sewn alligator leather strap.
The dial features golden indices, plus hour and minute indicators all filled with Super-LumiNova for around-the-clock legibility. There is a small seconds sub-dial between 7 o’clock and 8 o’clock. The perpetual calendar display is located at 5 o’clock and displays the day, date and month. The dial also displays leap years, the power reserve and incorporates a 24-hour indicator.
The horology house’s ‘Tourbillon 24 Secondes’ at 10 o’clock is inclined at a 25-degree angle and takes 24 seconds to complete a full rotation. It features a gold counterweight and titanium cage bridges. The mechanism can be observed at work from both the front and back.
On the back of the watch, the ‘Equation of Time’ complication can be viewed through the glass case back, displaying the current discrepancy between solar time and civil time. Seasons, solstices and equinoxes are indicated on a ring surrounding the complication. The current year is displayed on the back using a four-digit aperture.
The Greubel Forsey QP À Équation has a 72-hour power reserve and is water-resistant to 30m. The watch is priced at 670,000 CHF.
