SIHH 2019: Panerai Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech 47 mm in black and military green
For decades Panerai equipped the Italian combat swimmers with watches and precision instruments. This connection was now honored during the watch fair SIHH 2019 by Panerai with releasing the Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech in black (Ref. PAM00979) and military green (Ref. PAM00961), a professional diving watch with a diameter of 47 mm.
The case of the watch is made of carbotech, a material produced on the base of carbon fibres. Due to the carbon fibres unique arrangements the watch has a distinctive structure, which reminds of camouflage. The material is also lighter than titanium and more robust than stainless steel. On the carbon dial, the military-alike camouflage look is adapted as well. A date indication is located at 3 o’clock and a small seconds indication at 9 o’clock. Relating to the watch’s backround story, on its back a combat diver and the lettering ‘Survival Instrument’are engraved.

The unidirectional rotating bezel enables the times of immersion to be calculated. Legibility in the dark is ensured by the coating of grey Super-LumiNova applied to the markers and the large skeleton hands. The strap is made of black rubber.
Inside the watch runs the calibre P.9010 with a power reserve of three days. The balance, solidly fixed by a bridge with twin supports, oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and it is fitted with the device which stops the movement as soon as the winding crown is pulled out, so that the watch can be precisely synchronized with a reference signal. The hour hand can be conveniently adjusted without interfering with the movement of the minute hand, by means of the device which moves it directly forward or backward in jumps of one hour.

Panerai additionally presented a limited model of the Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech. This edition is limited to 33 pieces and offers its owners a special extra: a training lesson with the Diving and Commando Group of the Italian Navy, called ‘Comsubin’. The number of the limited pieces has a very special meaning in this case: 33 is the number of Gold Medals for Military Valour won by the members of ‘Comsubin’ in the course of history.

On the back of the case, the ‘Comsubin’ logo is engraved.
