At the LVMH Watch Week 2025, Zenith unveiled a new version of its Defy Skyline Chronograph. The Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton features a skeleton dial that offers a view of the inner workings of the El Primero movement. This watch is available in two versions: one with a black dial and one with a blue dial.
Case
The case of the Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton is made of stainless steel and measures 42 mm. It has an octagonal shape and a 12-faceted bezel, which give it a robust appearance. The surfaces are brushed and polished and create a nice play of light. The pushers for the chronograph are ergonomically integrated into the case. The crown, engraved with the Zenith star, is screw-down and ensures a water resistance of 10 bar (100 m). The case back is also made of sapphire crystal and is secured with four hexagonal screws, allowing a view of the movement on the back.
Dial
The skeletonised dial of the Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton is available in two colours: black and blue. Both versions have geometric cut-outs that reveal the inner workings of the movement. The three azure-grey sub-dials are also perforated. The faceted and applied baton indices and the hands are coated with Super-LumiNova to ensure legibility in all lighting conditions. The design of the dial is reminiscent of Zenith’s ‘double Z’ from the 1960s and gives the watch a modern, architectural look.
Movement
The Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton is powered by the El Primero 3600SK automatic movement. This is a skeletonized version of the El Primero 3600, which was introduced in 2019. The movement has a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz) and a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. It features a column wheel for the chronograph function and a vertical clutch, ensuring smooth operation of the chronograph. The central chronograph hand moves in tenths of a second, making one complete revolution every 10 seconds. The movement also has a bidirectional automatic winding system and an openworked rotor in the shape of the Zenith star.
Strap
The Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton comes with an integrated stainless steel bracelet and an additional black or blue rubber strap, depending on the dial version. The bracelet has three links and a folding clasp, while the rubber strap has a stainless steel folding clasp. The watch is equipped with a quick-change system that allows the straps to be changed easily without tools.
Price & Availability
The Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton is available exclusively in Zenith boutiques and through authorized dealers. The price is 16,200 euros.

I must confess, I am biased: mechanical watch aficionados, in my view, generally have a good relationship with the passage of time. This often goes hand in hand with a certain worldliness and a desire to fill one’s time with a wealth of experiences – preferably while travelling. Those who confirm my preconception will find…
