Panerai is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its online fan community paneristi.com with the special edition Panerai Radiomir Venti – 45 mm. The website is a reference point for Panerai lovers all over the world and is independent of the brand or Richemont Group, to which Panerai has belonged since 1997. However, the anniversary model, with the reference PAM02020, is the result of the collaboration between the Laboratorio di Idee, Panerai’s technical and creative team, and Paneristi. Also, the watch is a limited edition: only 1,020 pieces are available.
The “Paneristi”
The devoted community of Paneristi spreads across the globe. Organised in associations and clubs, they not only discuss the timepieces of the manufacturer Panerai, but even plan trips and experiences together. Overall, there are about 3,000 “Paneristi” worldwide, with 300 core members. The website paneristi.com is a place for knowledge, news and opinions about the Panerai manufacture. Additionally, the website is completely independent, and is free of charge.
The Watch
The case of the Panerai Radiomir Venti measures 45 mm in diameter and 14.15 mm in height. The AISI 316L steel is covered with a matte patina, evoking the typical aesthetic of vintage models. Between the lugs is the engraving “VENTI”, which refers to the twentieth anniversary of the website. Meanwhile, the screwed hexagonal caseback bears the inscription “PANERISTI.COM – TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY”.
The brown satinée soleil dial is manufactured according to the Panerai “sandwich” structure. It bears Arabic numerals and indices in beige Super-LumiNova, which glows green at night. Again, the sword-shaped, gold-coloured hands recall the brand’s early models. Finally, at 6 o’clock, there is another tribute to the brand’s fan community in the form of the paneristi.com website logo and the words “2000 – 2020”.
Meanwhile, the P.6000 calibre powers the Panerai Radiomir Venti. This movement is entirely designed and manufactured by the Neuchâtel manufacture itself. Notably, the mechanical specifications correspond to models from the last century. This can be surmised from the fact that this movement is manually wound. The power reserve of 72 hours is provided by a single barrel. Furthermore, to increase shock resistance, the balance is attached to a bridge with double support points, and incorporates an Incabloc shock protection system. Last but not least, the calibre also features a stop-seconds mechanism. This allows the balance to be stopped whenever the crown is pulled out.
The special model is water-resistant up to 100 m and is presented on a beige calf suede bracelet with a hot-stamped “OP” logo. A trapezoidal steel pin buckle with aged patina effect keeps the watch securely on the wrist. The Panerai Radiomir Venti – 45 mm (Ref. PAM02020) is limited to 1,020 pieces, and it is priced at 6,500 euros.
