Breitling Chronomat Automatic GMT 40: Faithful Travel Companion in Five Variants
The Breitling Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 is a robust sports watch that radiates a sense of adventure thanks to its GMT hand. The watch comes in five variants, differing in the dials. The choice is between black, blue, green, white and anthracite grey. The Chronomat‘s 40 mm steel case appears on the collection’s typical rouleaux bracelet. Last but not least, the watch withstands water pressure up to 200 metres and is thus ready for the most demanding travels.
Case
The steel sports watch has a 40 mm case and has a height of 11.77 mm. It features satin-finished surfaces, but also has polished bevels that run along the flanks. The easy-grip onion crown sits between slightly raised shoulders that provide extra protection. A unidirectional rotating bezel sits on the case, allowing the wearer to mark a specific time. For this purpose, there is a scale on the ring as well as a luminous dot at 12 o’clock. Last but not least, a domed sapphire crystal protects the front. On the back, there is a solid case back instead. The water resistance of the Breitling Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 is an impressive 200 metres.
Dial
Breitling is presenting no fewer than five dials for the Chronomat Automatic GMT 40: prospective buyers have to choose between black, blue, green, white and anthracite grey. However, all of them have a sunburst finish. The dial has a minute track and applied indices. The latter, like the hands, are luminescent. The manufacture also places its logo at 12 o’clock. Meanwhile, the red GMT hand indicates the current time in a second time zone in 24-hour format. For this purpose, there is a ring that is found around the dial and bears a 24-hour graduation. The watch also features a date window that shows up in black or white, depending on the colour of the dial.
Movement
The B32 calibre, which is based on the ETA 2893-2, provides the necessary drive. It offers a bidirectional winding system that supplies the barrel with energy up to a maximum power autonomy of 42 hours. The frequency of the balance is 4 hertz. With the COSC chronometer designation, the corresponding accuracy is also guaranteed.
