Since its debut in 1993, the Seamaster Diver 300M has earned a reputation for blending professional dive features with contemporary design. Over the past twenty years, Omega has intermittently introduced the colour orange into several Seamaster families, leveraging its high visibility underwater and its unmistakable aesthetic. This year, the Maison brings that signature hue directly into the core Diver 300M range with a new stainless-steel model with orange accents, available with two different strap variations. The 42 mm timepieces carry forward the full design overhaul that the Diver 300M collection recently received.
Case
Measuring 42 mm in diameter, the steel case strikes a balance between modern presence and wrist comfort. Omega has equipped it with a domed sapphire crystal, ensuring scratch resistance and clarity from the front as well as the back. The unidirectional bezel, now crafted from oxalic-anodised aluminium, features a diving scale filled with white Super-LumiNova for excellent low-light legibility. Subtle scalloping around the bezel edge enhances grip when adjusting underwater or in wet conditions.
At 10 o’clock, the signature helium escape valve provides an essential safety feature for saturation divers, allowing trapped helium gas to escape without compromising the watch’s integrity. On the opposite side, robust crown guards flank the screw-down crown, reinforcing the case’s 300 m water-resistance rating. The brushed and polished finishing on the lugs adds depth and a refined look, bridging professional toolwatch functionality with everyday style.
Dial of the Seamaster Diver 300M in Orange
The dial retains the classic wave motif in a discreet black aluminium finish, offering a subtle texture beneath the hands and indexes. Omega uses rhodium-plated skeletonised hour and minute hands, which are both generously coated in white Super-LumiNova, which glows blue in the dark. This choice ensures rapid time reading in low-light or murky underwater environments. Meanwhile, the central seconds hand stands out with its bright orange varnish. At each quarter-hour position, the applied indices feature orange accents, reinforcing the model’s sporty character.
Above the centre, the Seamaster name appears in matching orange print, while the watchmaker’s logo is transferred in white, maintaining brand identity. A minutes track around the edge of the dial aids precise timing, crucial for dive planning and safety stops. Overall, the dial design strikes a careful equilibrium between functional readability and bold styling cues.
Movement
At the heart of these new Seamaster Diver 300M models beats the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806. This in-house automatic movement features the renowned Co-Axial escapement, which reduces friction and prolongs service intervals compared to traditional lever escapements. More notably, the calibre meets the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) criteria, earning it Master Chronometer status for magnetic resistance, precision, and overall performance. The movement’s finishing is visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, showcasing refined Côtes de Genève in arabesque and a rotor decorated with the brand’s logo. The calibre 8806 is equipped with the brand’s typical 55-hour power reserve and a frequency in the mid-range of 3,5 Hz.
Strap Options
In keeping with the recent Diver 300M redesign, Omega provides two distinct wearing options for this orange-accented model. The first is a brushed stainless-steel mesh bracelet, echoing the look of a classic diver’s watch beads-of-rice design and providing a secure fit via a folding clasp. Alternatively, collectors can choose an integrated orange rubber strap, also equipped with a fold-over clasp for easy adjustment and safety. The bright hue of the rubber echoes the dial and bezel accents, creating a cohesive design statement. On deck or at depth, the rubber is practical as it is resistant to saltwater and sweat, while offering a sporty contrast to the steel case.
