Ready for the Scrum: Breitling Chronomat Six Nations
Swiss watch manufacture Breitling is launching an extremely limited-edition Chronomat series as well as a new squad. Both dedicate themselves to the unions and federations that make up Six Nations Rugby: England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France, and Italy. Breitling holds the title of exclusive luxury watch partner to Six Nations Rugby, and the Chronomat Six Nations celebrates this.
This new series features a unique timepiece for each national team, limited to 150 pieces per watch. The new Breitling squad consists of George North (Wales), Conor Murray (Ireland), Kyle Sinckler (England), Paolo Garbisi (Italy), Gaël Fickou (France), as well as Hamish Watson and Stuart Hogg (both of whom represent Scotland).
The case
All of the special Chronomat Six Nations are housed in stainless-steel cases with a 42 mm diameter. The sporty watches are water-resistant up to 200 m, while still integrating a sapphire crystal caseback. Furthermore, each watch features an engraving that reads ‘ONE OF 150’. A second engraving reads ‘Six Nations’. Naturally, the stainless-steel watches have all the signature Chronomat characteristics, from the raised rider tabs at the 15-minute marks to the easy-grip onion crown.
The dial
Likewise, the triple-register Chronomat dial features an integrated date at 6 o’clock, just like the classic models. Yet each special edition sets itself apart with a dial that expresses the individual union’s colours, with its coat of arms positioned in the subdial at 9 o’clock as well as on the caseback. The watch’s hands and indices have a Super-LumiNova coating for round-the-clock legibility.
The movement
Powering the Chronomat Six Nations is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B01, a COSC-certified chronometer that delivers a 70 hour power reserve. Providing hours, minutes, central seconds and a chronograph function, it beats at a frequency of 4 Hz.
Price and availability
Last but not least, the Chronomat Six Nations watches are available in the UK and select EU countries. Each model comes on the collection’s iconic stainless-steel rouleaux bracelet with butterfly clasp. The price of all models is 8,800 euros.
