A. Lange & Söhne SAXONIA THIN: Starry Sky on the Wrist
The A. Lange & Söhne manufacture presents a new SAXONIA THIN. The watch appears in an extremely flat pink gold case. However, all the attention is on the dial, which is reminiscent of the starry sky thanks to a special finish. Inside works the slimmest movement of the house, which nevertheless offers 72 hours of power reserve. The watch comes on a blue leather strap and is limited to 50 pieces.
Case & Materials of the SAXONIA THIN
The watch comes with a 40 mm case of 18-carat pink gold. With a height of an impressively flat 6.2 mm, the watch is decidedly elegant. The curvature of the lugs ensures that it fits comfortably on the wrist. As is customary for the Manufacture, the narrow polished bezel complements the brushed middle section. On the back, the sapphire crystal case back allows a view of the ornate movement. Here, the manufacture also engraves the limitation number of the respective SAXONIA THIN.
The Star of the Show: the Blue Dial with Starry Sky
The reflections on the blue copper-glittered dial are reminiscent of a star-studded night sky. This appearance is created by a thin layer of blue gold flux. Enclosed in this material are thousands of copper oxide crystals that reflect the light. The watchmakers have to apply it with care to the solid silver of the dial to achieve the desired effect. In addition, slender hour and minute hands and applied hour indices in pink gold complete the picture.
The Slim Calibre L093.1 Inside the SAXONIA THIN
A. Lange & Söhne has installed the thinnest movement of the manufacture here, with a height of only 2.9 mm. It nevertheless offers a power reserve of 72 hours, which is supplied manually by hand. Meanwhile, the shock-secured screw balance operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour. Of course, it also features the hand-engraved balance cock and a swan-neck spring. In addition, the movement presents three of its 21 rubies in screwed gold chatons. The entire plate of untreated German silver is adorned with a Glashütte ribbon cut, and all the chamfers are also precisely polished and bevelled.
