Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X: A Perfect Match For The New Lamborghini
Roger Dubuis is presenting the Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X. The watch was created in collaboration with Lamborghini and celebrates the launch of the new Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 super sports car. Accordingly, the watch picks up on the car’s design elements, making it a perfect complement to the vehicle. In addition, the watchmakers install two flying tourbillons. While the Lamborghini’s limitation is 112 pieces, Roger Dubuis is building only eight pieces of the matching watch.
The Case consists of Mineral Composite Fibers
The 47 mm x 16.45 mm case is made of Mineral Composite Fibre (MCF) material, whose color exactly matches the paint of the new Lamborghini Countach. The material consists of 99.95% silicon dioxide and is 2.5 times lighter than ceramic and 13% lighter than carbon. The case also features the typical characteristics of the Excalibur collection, such as the fluted bezel and the three lugs on both sides. Meanwhile, the titanium crown is located at 2 o’clock and bears a red ring. On the back, the sapphire crystal caseback allows the wearer to view the mechanics.
Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Countach: Ring as dial
The dial is a ring with minute scale, on which two angular hands indicate the time. The ring also carries a “Poinçon de Genève” lettering that refers to the certificate of the same name. Aside from that, the front reveals the shapes in the center inspired by the geometry of the car. A replication of the Periscopio roof is an eye-catcher here. There are also rectangular structures next to the two tourbillons, which remind us of the taillights from the Countach. Last but not least a sapphire crystal protects the front, shielding it from the hazards of motorsport.
The Engine inside the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X
The RD112 caliber drives the hands here. The movement’s name alludes to the Lamborghini Countach’s limitation to 112 pieces. In total, it consists of 296 parts and 40 jewels. The Excalibur Spider Countach is wound by hand. However, the power reserve is a generous 72 hours. The two flying tourbillons, which are at a 90° angle to each other, are striking. This allows the effects of gravity to be cancelled out not only horizontally, but also vertically. A differential then transmits the average rate of the two balances to the hands. Last but not least, the watch bears the demanding Geneva Seal, which guarantees the high quality of all components.
Rubber Strap and Quick Release System
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Countach features a quick release system that allows the strap and clasp to be replaced at the touch of a button. The strap itself is made of rubber and picks up the lines of the car with its three-dimensional design. Openings are incorporated into the band for increased comfort. On the inside, nylon fabric sandwiched between layers of rubber provides strength. Finally, a titanium folding clasp secures the watch to the wrist.
Price & Availability of the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X
The watch launches as a special limited edition. Roger Dubuis produces a total of only eight pieces of the model. Moreover, these are only available in the company’s own boutiques. The price for the Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X is 809,000 euros.
