BASELWORLD 2019: Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5726/1A-014
In 2010 already the Geneva watch manufacture Patek Philippe united sports and technique with the ‘Nautlilus’ collection. Now the brand presented a new model (Ref. 5726/1A-014) of this line on the watch fair Baselworld 2019: A version with stainless steel strap, like the first Nautilus from 1976, and a blue dial with a subtle shading from blue to black.

The 2010 Reference 5726A is a model for men and is equipped with an annual calender, a moon phase display and a 24-hour-indication. The steel model with a leather strap has since been joined by some others with a steel bracelet.
The new Reference 5726/1A-014’s horizontal embossing and the subtle shading from blue to black at the dial’s periphery aesthetically complete the steel of the case. Applied white-gold hour markers indicate the hours and minutes. The model’s hands are highlighted with a luminescent coating, accompanied by a slender sweep seconds hand.

Inside the case the self-winding calibre 324 S QA LU 24H is situated, made of 347 individual pieces. The annual calendar, patented by Patek Philippe in 1996, displays the day and the month in two in-line apertures at 12 o’clock and the date in an aperture at 6 o’clock. This mechanism also takes account of months of 30 and 31 days. The date requires correction once a year, on March 1st. The 24-hour indicator in the lower half of the dial simplifies calendar adjustments. This subsidiary dial also houses the precise moon-phase display, which requires correction by one day every 122 years. As well the model is water resistant to a depth of 200 meters.

Like the case and bezel, the steel bracelet with fold-over has polished and satin finishes.
Other than the new Reference 5726/1A-014 a version with leather strap and black gradient dial is available. No longer available are the previous models with a steel bracelet and a white or a black gradient dial.
