With its new model the watch manufacture Breguet ties in with a line of ultrathin previous models. As well the new Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395 (Ref. 5395BR/1S/9WU) is equipped with the only 3 mm high calibre 581 made of 18-karat gold including a tourbillon. By skeletonizing the movement the manufacture now makes the mechanical system of the watch visible from the outside.
To ensure the cailbres small height but still provide it with all technical features, the rotor was placed on the periphery of the plate. As well the tourbillon’s titanium carriage engages directly with the wheel train, instead of doing so via the intermediary of a pinion at its base. Due to a distinct angled shape of the silicon escapement additional space could be saved.
The calibre 581 is very light with a weight of only 0.290 grams Though the high-energy barrel beating at four hertz guarantees a power reserve of 80 hours. To share the view on the mechanical heart of the watch, as much material as possible was removed, without interfering with the technical properties of the various different components. Other than that the gold plate and bridges have been hollowed.
The small remaining plate surface of the Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395 have been guilloched with a diamond-tipped guilloche tool in the style of Clou-de-Paris. Sharp edges have been beveled with a file. Different inscriptions have been engraved as well as borders to frame the holes. The fluted case of the new model is topped with a domed glass-box revealing the movement. The hours chapter wass created using galvanic growth, while the timer was laser-engraved and filled with blue varnish. The sapphire dial features applied hour markers in blued gold. The traditional blued moon-tipped hands and soldered horns complete this design in the Breguet style.
Water-resistant to 30 meters, the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395 is available with a gray movement in a rose gold case, or with a rose movement in a platinum case (Ref. 5395PT/RS/9WU).
