W&W 2020: Panerai Luminor Marina Fibratech 44 mm – PAM01119
It was 70 years ago that Panerai first introduced the tritium-based luminous substance Luminor – now, the Florentine watchmaker launches the Luminor Marina Fibratech 44 mm (PAM01119) with an improved luminosity, a new material and a service warranty of 70 years.
PAM01119
Ever since the 1940s, Panerai has continuously worked on improving emission of light. By using SuperLumiNova X1, they have mastered a crucial step to further enhance visibility in the dark. The luminescent substance has also been applied on the crown protection device, the flange, and also the stitching of the strap.
Mineral fibres used in Fibratech come from the fusion of basalt rock and minerals additive. These fibres are bound with high-end polymers to become thin layers which are superimposed in a precise orientation and then consolidated through a pressure and temperature-controlled process.
Powering the new PAM01119 is the calibre P.9010 with 72 hours power reserve. It has been entirely conceived and developed by the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. The 6 mm thin automatic movement is fitted with a function for quickly setting the time, which simultaneously modifies the date. The movement’s three day power reserve is provided by its twin spring barrels.
In 2019, Panerai introduced the Pam-Guard care programme, whereby the warranty of all watches bought within the past two years can be extended by another six years. On the occasion of the 70th ’Luminor’ anniversary, they are now offering a warranty of an incredible 70 years for this model. Throughout this period, Panerai will maintain the working order of the client’s watch as necessary under the terms and conditions of the international warranty.
The new Luminor Marina Fibratech 44 mm is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 m) and is worn on a black strap made of Panerai ‘Sportech’ – a woven fabric to give a waterproof rubberised effect, with luminous stitching and a Velcro fastener. A second rubber strap, black with trapezoid titanium buckle, is also supplied as well as a tool for changing straps.

The watch, including second strap and changing tool, comes in a special box with a luminous image of the iconic dial of the ‘Luminor Marina’ on its lid. The Luminor Marina Fibratech 44 mm PAM01119 is limited to 270 pieces and exclusive to Panerai Boutiques. It costs 19,000 euros.
Panerai expands the Luminor Marina collection with a new interpretation molded from an exclusive and precious metal: Luminor Marina Panerai Goldtech 44 mm (PAM01112).
