Chopard has acted as the official timekeeper of the Italian classic car rally Mille Miglia. Not only does Chopard’s co-president take part in the 1000-mile race, but also the annual event sees the introduction of exclusive timepieces to celebrate the events. This year, Chopard presents the Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control and the Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chronograph. The first is an automatic-winding piece displaying a date function as well as the power reserve, which is presented in the form of a fuel gauge. Meanwhile, the Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chronograph offers a precise mechanical chronograph, as well as three subdials, which are evocative of the instruments installed in vintage cars.
Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control
The new Power Control comes in a 43 mm stainless-steel case, while the crown, bezel, hands and indices are made from 18-carat rose gold. The satin-brushed ‘Azzurro’ blue dial contrasts with the ‘1000 Miglia’ red arrow, which displays the date at 3 o’clock. Meanwhile, the power reserve is displayed at 9 o’clock and evokes a fuel gauge.
An open caseback allows the wearer of the new Power Control to observe the in-house calibre 01.08-C at work. The automatic movement with 251 parts offers a power reserve of 60 hours and is COSC-certified. The steel ring around the sapphire crystal caseback bears the words ‘Brescia > Roma > Brescia’, plus the number of the watch – of which 500 pieces are available.
The Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Power Control is water-resistant to 100 m and is presented on a blue calf leather strap with a stainless-steel buckle. It is priced at 9,640 euros.
Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chronograph
The Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chronograph has a 44 mm stainless-steel case as well as a polished steel bezel. The mechanical chronograph measures time periods of up to 12 hours with COSC-certified accuracy. The two subdial counters at 12 and 6 o’clock display the time measured. Additionally, small seconds can be read at 9 o’clock, while a date window lies at 3 o’clock. The applied indices are well as the hour and minute hands are covered with Super-LumiNova.
Powering the model is a mechanical chronograph with automatic winding. The movement consists of 240 components and has a frequency of 4 Hz. The power reserve is 48 hours. The pattern of a chequered flag with the Mille Miglia arrow within is engraved on the stainless-steel caseback. Furthermore, as with the Power Control, the Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chronograph features the words ‘Brescia > Roma > Brescia’ and the identification number of the piece – of which 750 are available.
The Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Azzurro Chronograph is water-resistant to 100 m and is again presented on a blue calf leather strap with a stainless-steel buckle. It is priced at 7,360 euros.
