Ressence was born in 2010 with the purpose in mind to improve the function of the mechanical watch in the 21st century context. Ressence wants us to make better use of our time by focusing on our relation to it. Marking the 10th anniversary of Ressence, the Belgian-Swiss brand introduces the limited Type 1 Slim X.
Ressence new Type 1 Slim X
Ressence is known for its patented electronic crown, the “e-Crown” that builds a unit from a mechanical movement and an electronic module, displaying the time in a unique way by discs that continually orbit around one another. In 2013, Ressence received the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève award that gave the brand an international resonance. In 2016, Ressence became member of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, giving the brand a well deserved recognition from industry insiders.
The first of four watches from the new collection X
Collection X now marks the first 10 years and the Type 1 Slim X model is the first piece of their new X collection. Visually, Ressence wanted to create a dedicated symbol for the collection that is the fusion of an X, or ten in Latin, and an hourglass.
Ressence Type 1 Slim X
Featuring the emblematic Ressence ever-changing dial, the Type 1 Slim X‘s disc have been given a subtle handmade makeover. When the watch indicates midnight or midday, the dark olive-green dial is equally divided into two separate finishes; matte on one half and circular on the other half. The different finishes reinterpret the colour as the light hits the surface. On the minute and hour discs, the two finishes are graphical extensions of the hands – at a glance, you can literally observe the passage of time. Hence, Ressence wants to implicate a modern and wearable interpretation of an hourglass.
Ressence Type 1 Slim X
The Type 1 Slim X is powered by the Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS), an in-house developed and patented horological unit, driven by the minute axle of a specially customized 2892/A caliber. It has a power reserve of 36 hours. It is manually set via a lever on its case back. The watch has no crown, the winding and setting mechanism being the case-back itself, for better ergonomics and allowing a left-right fit.
Ressence has announced to introduce four watches for the new Collection X, each of them limited to 40 pieces and with a dark olive-green colour. This first Type 1 Slim X is priced at 18,000 CHF.
