TUDOR Black Bay 58 Bronze: The Very First Boutique Edition
TUDOR is introducing a new Black Bay 58, which will be only available in the brand’s shops. As the name suggests, the TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze has a 39 mm case made of bronze. In addition, however, the bracelet with a new extension system is also made of the same material. The new model is powered by the manufacture calibre MT5400, which has a COSC certificate and a power reserve of 70 hours.
All TUDOR Black Bay Bronze models
In the past, TUDOR has already presented several models with bronze cases. The Black Bay Bronze (M79250BA) in particular holds a firm place in the manufacturer’s collection. However, it has a larger 43 mm case. Also special is the TUDOR Black Bay Bronze One, which was designed as a Unique Piece for the Only Watch Auction 2017. The watch meant for left-handers and has the crown on the other side accordingly. It also stands out with its khaki green dial. However, the new Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze is the first bronze watch to come with a strap made of the same material.
Case and Materials
The TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze has a satin-finished bronze case with a diameter of 39 mm. As is usual for the material, it develops a patina over time, depending on the wearer’s habits.
The unidirectional rotating bezel in bronze carries a number disc in anodised aluminium with a 60-minute graduation. Meanwhile, domed sapphire crystal protects the front. As usual, TUDOR also installs a solid case back that hides the mechanics inside. With a water resistance of 200 metres, however, it can also withstand more than the occasional splash.
The Dial of the Black Bay 58 Bronze
The dial of the new Black Bay Fifty-Eight is similar to that of the larger Black Bay Bronze (M79250BM). In this case, TUDOR uses a graduated, domed dial in “bronze brown” with applied hour indices and Arabic numerals. For better readability, the hands as well as the indices and numerals have a lot of luminous material. In addition to the logo, the house also places indications of water resistance and chronometer certification on the dial.
The mechanics inside the Black Bay 58 Bronze
TUDOR uses its own calibre MT5400. It offers automatic winding with a two-sided winding rotor and a power reserve of 70 hours. The manufacture also installs a modern silicon hairspring which should aid anti-magnetism. It also has the chronometer certificate of the COSC, which guarantees good precision, among other things. However, the house itself is also convinced of the quality of the watch and grants a five-year transferable guarantee without registration or mandatory maintenance.
The TUDOR Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze comes on a newly designed bronze bracelet with a “T-fit” buckle and a quick adjustment system. In addition, the manufacture is including another “bronze-brown” textile strap with a bronze pin buckle. As a Boutique Edition, the watch will only be available in around 50 selected shops of the house at a price of 4,210 euros.
