To mark the 175th anniversary of the company A. Lange & Söhne, the company is presenting the anniversary collection “Homage to F.A. Lange”, which consists of the 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold, the 1815 Thin Honeygold and the A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold. The latter is limited to 50 pieces and combines a tourbillon with a rattrapante chronograph as well as a perpetual calendar.
The A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold is housed in a 43 mm 18-carat honey gold case. The black-rhodium-plated dial is also made of solid gold, contrasting with the raised numerals and scales. The hands and moon disc are also made of the same gold alloy. The two highly polished, slightly curved moons are surrounded by hand-engraved stars. In order to ensure the high quality standards, the dial and the moon disc are manufactured in the horology house’s own workshops.
The calibre L133.1 drives the A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold. It consists of 684 individual parts and combines tourbillon, chronograph and perpetual calendar. It requires manual winding, and when fully wound, its power reserve is 35 hours. The screw balance inside the tourbillon cage beats at a frequency of 3 Hz. Additionally, a chain-screw drive ensures that the driving force of the spring is always transmitted to the movement with the same torque.
The chronograph’s rattrapante function allows intermediate timings to be stopped during a running time measurement. The blued steel rattrapante or split-seconds hand at the top can be stopped independently of the gold-plated chronograph hand and can also be synchronized with it again by pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock. Two column wheels control the switching processes, which can be observed through the sapphire glass caseback. Finally, the 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock completes the chronograph displays.
The perpetual calendar indicates the day of the week, date, month and leap year until the year 2100 and must then be set once for the next century. On the three subsidiary dials, the date is shown at 12 o’clock, and the day of the week at 9 o’clock, with hands made of honey gold. The month and leap year are combined in one display at 3 o’clock. The moonphase display is at 12 o’clock and is calculated to an accuracy of 122.6 years.
The A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold is manufactured to a high level of craftsmanship. The surfaces of the silver bridges and cocks are engraved and have black rhodium-plated inscriptions. A diamond cap jewel is located in the hand-engraved balance cock. The tourbillon cage is mounted between two further diamond cap jewels – a homage to the pocket watches of F.A. Lange.
The A. Lange & Söhne Tourbograph Perpetual Honeygold is presented on a hand-sewn brown leather strap with a pin buckle. As part of the “Homage to F. A. Lange” anniversary collection, it celebrates the 175th anniversary of A. Lange & Söhne. The watch is limited to 50 pieces and is available at a price of 500,000 euros.
