Breguet Tradition 7047: Movement With Fusée-Chain Tourbillon
Breguet is presenting a new variant of the Tradition 7047. The watch puts the spotlight on the mechanics and integrates a tourbillon as well as a drive via chain and fusée. The new model now has a blue dial and a tourbillon cage and fusée in the same colour. Previously, the watch was only available with a black or silver-plated dial. With this new model, the house refreshes its selection of tourbillon watches, for which Breguet is so well known. The Tradition 7047 comes on a blue strap made of alligator leather.
Typical Breguet Case in Platinum
Breguet houses the Tradition 7047 in a 41 mm platinum case. In typical Breguet style, the case features welded-on lugs and fluted grooves on the middle section of the case. With a height of 16 mm, it sits proudly on the wrist. The crown on the right flank bears a “B” for “Breguet”. The bezel is rounded and polished and holds a domed sapphire crystal. On the back, the open case back reveals the mechanism. The water resistance of the watch is 3 bar or 30 metres.
The Off-Center Dial
To bring the mechanics to the foreground, the blue dial moves to the 7 o’clock position. Crafted from gold, it bears a hand-guilloché “Clous de Paris” pattern. The Breguet Tradition 7047 also features traditional Roman numerals. As with the watches of Abraham-Louis Breguet, three screws hold the dial in place. Last but not least, two “pomme” hands with openworked tips indicate the time.
The Fusée-Chain Tourbillon Mechanism
In the new model, the 569 calibre continues to measure the time. It consists of 542 individual parts and integrates a tourbillon as well as a chain and fusée drive. The latter ensures that constant torque arrives at the escapement. A chain winds around the barrel and slowly unwinds onto the fusée. As the circumference increases, the leverage increases. This compensates for the diminishing torque of the barrel, which ensures even power transmission to the tourbillon. The wearer does the winding by hand with a maximum power autonomy of 50 hours.
The tourbillon comprises a titanium cage and an inverted lever escapement with a large balance. The latter oscillates at a frequency of 2.5 Hz, which results in a smooth motion. Also included is a silicon balance spring with a Breguet end curve. In this model variant, the tourbillon cage is blue and the chain links also have this finish. Otherwise, the movement in the Breguet Tradition 7047 is completely rhodium-plated.
Price And Availability of The Breguet Tradition 7047
The new variant comes on a dark blue strap made of alligator leather that picks up on the new colour accents. It also features a triple-blade platinum folding clasp. The price of the watch is 192,300 euros.
