Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ‘Master Control’collection has been updated to include new 40 mm watches featuring open sapphire crystal casebacks and sunray brushed silver-white dials. The watches are now driven by updated calibres that integrate a new silicon escapement, a redesigned barrel, and various energy-saving enhancements.
One of the new iterations is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Date (Ref. Q4018420), which is housed in a slim 40 mm x 8.78 mm stainless-steel case. The updated Calibre 899 powers this model, resulting in improved power reserve. Notably, the watch is presented on a brown calf-leather strap.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Date‘s minimalist dial tells time using two Dauphine hands and the updated collection’s hallmark blue seconds hand. The date window is located at 3 o’clock. Furthermore, sapphire crystal on the front protects the dial and reveals the decorated calibre on the back.
The brand has revitalised the automatic mechanical Calibre 899, meaning it now offers a 70-hour power reserve. It features a new escapement, plus silicon pallets to minimise friction (thereby saving energy). Furthermore, the central-seconds wheel has been redesigned to prevent shaking, and the fixing screws of the oscillating wheel are no longer made of steel, but with highly resistant titanium. Finally, the barrel has been redesigned to accommodate a stronger, longer mainspring.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Date is water-resistant to 50 m and is priced at 6,950 euros.
