OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch Calibre 321 in Stainless Steel

OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch Cal 321

In July 2019, the Swiss watchmaker OMEGA unveiled the Speedmaster Moonwatch with the legendary calibre 321, however in a platinum execution. Now, this model is finally being launched in stainless steel, inspired from a Speedmaster ST 105.003 that astronaut Edward White wore on his wrist while walking in space for the first time.

The 39.70 mm case in stainless steel, influenced by the same 3rd generation style that Ed White wore, features a bezel ring in polished black ceramic with a tachymeter scale in white enamel.

Known for its intricate design, the original calibre 321 was the first movement ever used in the OMEGA Speedmaster in 1957, hence the watch that was most likely first worn on the Moon, the Speedmaster ST 105.012.

The dial site of the new Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 in stainless steel also features some nods to the past. There is an iconic “Dot over Ninety” on the tachymeterscale – a tiny dot placed above (instead of next) the number 90. A feature, that collectors appreciate. Furthermore, the new watch features a vintage OMEGA logo taken from the historical versions. Owners can admire the iconic calibre 321 through the sapphire crystal caseback.

Although collectors have been long awaiting this execution in stainless steel, they have to stay patient. The production of this calibre is time sensitive due to its complex manufacturing, hence limited. If you get your hands onto one, it will cost 12.900 euros in stainless steel.
