Panerai Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition PAM01643: Nautical Tradition And Italy’s Treasures
Panerai has unveiled the Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition PAM01643, a new watch that is part of the brand’s Experience program. This initiative offers clients exclusive access to unique adventures, and the Mediterranean Experience is the latest addition. With the purchase of this limited edition watch, customers can participate in a curated journey through Sicily’s cultural treasures which includes a cruise on the Eilean, a historic yacht owned by Panerai. The watch itself features a vintage aesthetic with patinated steel and bronze that has been salvaged from the Eilean during restoration.
Case
The case of the Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition PAM01643 measures 45 mm and is made of Brunito (ital. burnished) steel. The bronze bezel and crown are made from bronze recovered from the Eilean during her restoration. This bronze underwent a lengthy process of successive castings and was then carefully blended with fresh bronze. The steel case has a rugged, burnished finish, achieved through a PVD treatment followed by hand-brushing. This gives each watch a unique appearance. The left-hand side of the case features an engraving of the dragon emblem from the Eilean’s hull, while a medallion on the bronze case back showcases the words Eilean and the year 1936. The latter is commemorating the year of the yacht’s maiden voyage. The watch is water-resistant up to 10 bar, equivalent to about 100 meters. The sapphire crystal protects the dial and is resistant to scratches.
Dial
The dial of the Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition PAM01643 has a grainy beige gradient reminiscent of the sails of the Eilean. It follows the classic sandwich design, with cut-out hour markers, Arabic numerals at 12 and 6, and a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock. The beige Super-LumiNova on the lower plate shines through, providing readability in low light conditions. The hour and minute hands, as well as the second hand, are also coated with Super-LumiNova. There is also an icon featuring the word brevattato meaning patented in Italian and referring to the eight day power reserve calibre. The overall combination of colours and materials gives the watch a warm, vintage feel, reflecting Panerai’s nautical heritage.
Movement
The Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition PAM01643 is powered by the hand-wound P.5000 calibre. This movement is 4.5 mm thick and consists of 113 components, with 21 jewels. The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and has a power reserve of 8 days, thanks to two barrels. Most components are sandwiched between two plates, which makes the movement robust and shock-resistant. The 10 mm balance wheel is supported by a traversing bridge and features a variable inertia design with four external adjusting screws, allowing for precise regulation without disassembly.
Strap
The strap of the Radiomir 8 Giorni Eilean Experience Edition PAM01643 is made of dark brown calf leather with beige stitching. It is heat-stamped with Eilean 1936, commemorating the year of the yacht’s maiden voyage. The strap features a trapezoidal Brunito steel pin buckle, ensuring a secure fit on the wrist.
