Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Blue Shadow Edition: The Blue of The Seas
With the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Blue Shadow Edition, the Manufacture is continuing its collaboration with luxury mobility brand Brabus. The Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM0124), on which the new model is based, was presented last year. However, it now features blue accents instead of red and has a titanium case. Panerai will present the watch at the Palma International Boat Show 2022 on Mallorca. This model is also a limited edition – but this time with 200 pieces.
The Case is of 3D-Printed Titanium
The case is now made of titanium, which is created by metal laser sintering. In this process, the shape grows layer by layer from titanium powder that is fused by a laser. Through such 3D printing, even complex shapes can be produced with precision. The result has high robustness and low weight. Here, the case measures 47 mm in diameter.
Also present is a rotating bezel made of Carbotech, an in-house material based on carbon fibre. It also has a luminous dot at the 12 o’clock position to prevent mix-ups. The lever of the iconic crown protection bridge is also of Carbotech and bears the Brabus lettering. On the back, the see-through case back allows a glance inside the watch. The water resistance is 30 bar or 300 metres.
The Open Dial
The dial consists of a grid and a blue ring with the indices. However, the picture is dominated by the movement parts and the Brabus logo at 7 o’clock. The blue indices, like the hands, have luminous material to guarantee readability even in the dark.
At 9 o’clock there is a Small Seconds, which also integrates an AM/PM indicator. Indeed, the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Blue Shadow Edition also offers a GMT function from the centre. On the opposite side at 3 o’clock is a date display. The patented Optical Polar Date makes it possible to display the information without obscuring the mechanics of the movement.
This Skeletonised Movement Powers The Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Blue Shadow Edition
Inside is the P.4001/S calibre. It is based on the P.4000, but here it is skeletonised. It has two barrels that together provide a power reserve of 72 hours. A decentralised oscillating weight made of tungsten supplies the mechanism with fresh energy. As a further technical refinement, the manufacture has installed a stop-seconds mechanism with zero reset of the seconds hand. This makes it easy to set the time.
In addition, there is a power reserve indicator on the back. A rotating disc moves past an arrow to indicate the remaining days. This disc bears numerals with Super-LumiNova, which thus remain legible even in the dark. The all-black movement consists of 341 components and 31 jewels. On the rotor, the house places both their logo and the corresponding lettering.
