Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition: Continuing the Story
The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition celebrates the iconic Chronograph 1 from 1972 while continuing its legacy. After the 1972 Limited Edition, which was launched on the occasion of the brand’s 50th anniversary, paid tribute to history, a variant with modern design codes is now following. The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition is produced in limited quantities of a maximum of 1000 numbered watches per year.
The Case is Completely Black
The case consists of black-coated titanium and measures 40.8 mm in diameter with a height of 14.15 mm. The pushers and crown are also of the light metal, the latter bearing the current Porsche Design logo. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the front. The case back allows a view of the mechanics. The manufacturer specifies the water resistance as 10 bar or 100 metres.
The High-Contrast Dial
The dial of the All Black Numbered Edition appears completely black with contrasting indications in white. Around the dial is a ring bearing the tachymeter scale. Both the scale and the day/date display are in the current Porsche font. Two luminous hands indicate the time. The minute hand, however, has a tapered shape. The red chronograph hand also stands out in the centre. The corresponding counters are at 12 and 6 o’clock. At 9 o’clock is a small seconds instead.
The Engine Inside The All Black Numbered Edition
The calibre WERK 01.140 powers the watch. It was developed at the brand’s manufacture in Solothurn, but uses the platform of supplier Concepto. The movement offers automatic winding and a power reserve of 48 hours. The chronograph has a cam switch together with an oscillating pinion clutch. Elsewhere, the quick-switch date display adds convenience. In addition, the watch carries the chronometer certificate of the COSC, which guarantees appropriate accuracy.
Price & Availability of The Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition
The watch appears on a black-coated titanium bracelet that features a folding clasp with fine adjustment. Alternatively, the bracelet can be exchanged using the quick-change system. The Chronograph 1 – All Black Numbered Edition will launch in November 2022, but prospective customers can already pre-order the watch online at Porsche Design as well as in the stores and at selected partners at a price of 8,950 euros.
